I won’t be joining your party tonight
I’m on a ride and have to hold on tight.
Save my tongue, save my soul;
I’m gonna keep pushing towards that goal.
"Huh?" You say.
"When did you get that way?"
Well, today’s the day
And I won’t delay.
No more talking ‘bout how Sally sold out
Stabbing and jabbing with my little mouth.
No more biting on Jack’s mistakes
No fruitless whining over the mess Ann makes.
I’m trading in my gossip for worship
All my lost time for more than a dime
All my words, for praise and glory;
Not one more on a pointless story.
"So you’re better than us?"
I hear you say.
Not one bit or in any way!
All I’ve done is made a choice,
It'll be LIFE each time you hear my voice.
For every word I will be judged,
For every curse in anger splurged.
For empty promises, I cannot count
For every lie, I’ll give account.
So no, I cannot come today.
And not tomorrow by the way;
This change has come and is here to stay.
I’m watching my words day after day.
