Is Anybody Listening?

Huhís become a habit, a nasty one, itís true,
Convenient, it belies the fact that no oneís hearing you.

Itís why I have to repeat each and every word I say,
And why I say the same old things a hundred times a day.

Did you do your homework, son, did you do your chores?
Have you done one single thing I asked you to before?

Honey, whereís the checkbook, and did you pay the bills?
Why do our conversations all become a war of wills?

Sometimes it is so bad I wind up feeling miserable.
No one hears me, it is like I am invisible.

Is anybody listeningÖdoes anybody care?
With all the people in the world, it feels like no oneís there.

Huhís become a habit, and listening from the heart,
Gets scarcer with each passing day, it is a dying art.

It is a word I, too, have used, I sadly must confess,
That I donít always listen to the One Who knows me best.

But I can boldly seek His ear, I donít have to be wary,
For ďhuhĒ is not a word thatís found in Godís vocabulary.

Perfect in meter and rhyme! ...and what a message you finish with!

Short and to the point. Good rhyme and rhythm wrapped in a great reminder that our Father is always listening; even when others are not. Well done.

Great job with the flow of the poem and the message it sends. I really liked the power-punch of the last two lines.
