It seems as though there is a great need these days for people to express themselves. Everyone has a need to say something. Other than those addicted to text messaging, much of what is said is not spoken verbally. Huh? That’s right!
Everywhere we look we see someone's words or ideas inscribed on everything from bumper stickers to T-shirts. It seems to be the way of communicating without speaking a single word. Along with the bumper stickers I have noticed that hats, purses, wrist bands, jewelry, and now everyday expensive clothes our kids are wearing carry messages. In addition my computer screen is flooded with people expressing their thoughts and feelings without saying a word. Could it be that some of us feel safer writing things out than saying something out loud? Huh? What about it writers?
But when you think about it, these ways of sharing do tend to keep ideas out in plain sight where people can constantly see them and react. And by the way, if you don't like what's available, you can design your own T-shirt and express your ideas like my daughter does. She actually does quite a good job at it, even taking it as far as buying cloth-type shoes and putting her messages on them.
There are those messages written for all to see that don't bear repeating, but I would like to share a few of the more humorous phrases I've seen on T-shirts, clothing and bumper stickers recently.
Bumper stickers:
If you can read this, I've lost my trailer.
My other car is a broom.
My kids think I'm an ATM.
There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count and those who can't.
T-Shirts:
My wife keeps complaining I don't listen to her...or something like that.
I is a college student.
My wife said, “If you go hunting or fishing one more time I'm going to leave you.”
...I'm sure going to miss her.
Billboards:
Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.
Speak well of your enemies...after all, you made them.
“Will the road you are on get you to my place?”—God
With “Valentine’s Day coming soon, let me encourage you to use this day that’s been invented (perhaps by the greeting card and candy industries) to share your love and caring for one another. Tell them how much they are loved. Huh? No you can’t text them! Just say it!
