A heart that’s been impaled by love
Takes more experience to heal
Than any wound that rips the skin
A gifted doctor’s hands can seal;

The first ingredient for healing
Is letting all the poison drain,
By letting her pour out her tears
And give a voice to all her pain.

Then next let time build up a scab
While friends’ support cleans out the germs—
This disinfectant of their love
Will let the scabs so gently form.

The scabs can last forever
If they are not correctly cured;
So lots of healing must be done
Once scabs have formed above the hurt.

What’s needed next is pure acceptance
From he whose heart can truly heal;
She needs to know that she’s not trash,
That she’ll be loved through all she feels;

Then he must do some messy work,
And love her through the waves of pain
As fears and doubts hit her again
He must keep washing all her stains…

He must love her through all her doubts,
He must love her through all her fears,
Then one day she will wake at last
And find her pain has disappeared,

And when she does, she’ll have a heart
That has been strengthened by her wound,
And she will love like no one can,
A heart that overcame her tomb!

Deep and intensely beautiful!

A good reminder that cleansing is often uncomfortable and "yucky" before we are completely healed.

I can tell that a lot of deep thinking went into this piece. A perfect prescription for those who are hurting. . . love. I like the part about loving someone and being there for them through their doubts and their fears. May we all show that kind of unconditional Godly love to hurting souls around us. Great writing!
