The problem with pumpkins-
They’re large, as you know;
Last Tuesday I dropped one-
Ten pounds crushed my toe.
My foot first changed color
Then rose like bread dough.

That troublesome pumpkin
Caused a dreadful day’s start;
Since I dropped that large gourd
Off that rickety cart,
Orange whizzed past me,
My world fell apart.

Because of that pumpkin,
My foot throbbed in pain.
Because of my pain,
My bike stayed in the rain.
For reasons of science,
Air rusted my chain.

Now just like that pumpkin,
My chain’s color was rust.
The chain broke and I fell,
My clothes covered in dust.
The worst problem yet – Mom
Was there when I cussed.

I sat like a pumpkin
In my room since I swore,
Was jumpy and ready
To bust through my door.
Hating orange and rust,
A fire’s hard to ignore.

Because of that pumpkin,
I forgot who to blame;
A spark lit within me
Was more than a flame;
Worse than the anger,
I was doused with pure shame.

The problem with pumpkins-
They’re solid and sure;
They descend when released;
True pain’s hard to cure.
Because of that pumpkin,
I was called immature.

If I don’t blame the pumpkin
For the bruise on my knees,
Then who do I blame?
Orange dust in the breeze?
If tomorrow goes wrong,
Can I blame the blue cheese?

This is cute and amusing. Seeing some of the sizes of your pumpkins there in the USA it could have been a few broken toes. LOL!

Great story-telling with a good message as well. I liked the cadence and flow of the poem.
