Eternity is a creation of watercolor moments that flow from one into the next, an ever-changing wash of colors that comes once and then departs and may never come again. Such is the momentary orange-ing of the evening sky. It does come - once in awhile for those who take the time to wait for its momentary coming.
------------------------------------
the momentary orange-ing
in the darkening of my mortal sight,
just before the blackening of the night,
a momentary orange-ing of the sky takes place,
as the last few drops of sunlight gold,
drip upon the last pink rose of light.
as if so reluctant to pass away,
this ebbing, fading, nearly dying day,
she shouts out in bold and brassy orange,
she will not go without this one last show,
this cannonade of color, this fireworks orange display.
oh, this sunset requiem comes once more,
upon this day’s far distant shore,
a blaze of glory in the bonfire of its time,
its ashes now become the charcoal dusk,
and its sparks, the stars we do adore.
