My life as a story, on paper: a book
Recorded through time with no hidden nook
The light of the day; the dark of the night
All the good, all the bad; there’s nothing too trite
He holds in His hands two markers to use
One black and one yellow, such contrasting hues
A black line over sin when all is forgiven
The yellow to highlight when glory was given
When through endless pages no yellow is found
Life was squandered as pointless and sin did abound
All these words that I see amounted to naught
Idle talk, good intentions, and the stuff that I bought
But the call from my Savior, it changed who I am
No more wandering daily in self pleasure and sin
He has crossed out my sins and forgiven me fully
My life has been bought, I will follow Him solely
So I pray that in yellow my story is bathed
That I’ll live out my life as the gratefully saved
No more wasting my time on the things that don’t matter
But seeking to do things that make my Lord gladder
Oh it isn’t the yellow that has power to save
It’s the blood of the sacrificed Son that God gave
So when Jesus recites your whole life as a story
What remains is the yellow, when you gave Him glory.
