Of summer’s dazzling light,
I trek through the evergreens
To a buttery meadow sight.
Each dandelion wore nature’s best
Bedecked in cheery yellow,
A thousand faces smiled at God
As I greeted these dandy fellows.
They come for just a season
Brightly dressed in sunny hue,
Then morph into white wispy wands
Dispatching seeds for birth anew.
The dandelion grows faithfully
While its roots are anchored deep,
It even is nutritious
If its greens to choose to keep.
Daytime rays of golden sun
Caress each lemony head,
Then gentle breezes tickle them
Before they go to bed.
As I’m pondering this yellow sea
Dancing ‘round the meadow’s floor,
I’m drawn to my Creator
And His miracles galore.
I, just like the dandelion,
Can grow where I am planted.
My roots are deep and strong
So I’ll never take for granted. . .
The love that filled my empty soul
When His Spirit breathed in me,
His words are the nourishment
That shape my destiny.
