Dear Blue Eyes,

I need to take the time to tell you the reasons why I am so thankful to have you in my life, and how much I truly and deeply love you. Without you I would not be able to identify who I am.

There are so many things I want to say; so many reasons I am thankful for you. First, please forgive me for the times I’ve taken you for granted. Please forgive me for the wrongs I have done to you, on purpose or by neglect.

I love you so, so much—so deeply—it brings tears to my eyes when I remember how sweet you were to me the day you said, “I will marry you!” I love how your beautiful blue eyes smiled as you used your special comb to arrange your blond hair that was returning after your chemo ended. Oh yes, and I love the way you look in your blue jeans.

You are my angel. I am extremely thankful that you have helped God form me into the man I am today. I love sitting with you in our deck swing looking out across the horizon watching sunsets and sundown’s change the sky to various shades of blue.

I remember the day I lost my job It was a very dark and blue day. Until that day, I was so confident—perhaps a wee bit haughty—and thought that the “unemployment wave” would never affect me. Then, when it did, I loved how you reacted. “God knows,” you whispered as you gently hugged me, “We’ll get through this. Jesus will provide.” What faith you have dear woman!

I am so thankful that you wanted to adopt our child. It has helped me stay younger. So what if there have been headaches and heartaches? There has also been more love. Thank you for being a wonderful mother to our daughter. Some day she will hug and thank you for all you’ve done for her.

Thank you for allowing God to use you in ministry. I love to see you so emotional and enthusiastic in the work of helping your fellowman, and I know God has chosen you for this very special work.

I love your spirit: your positive, purposeful attitude attracts people to Christ.

People always say to me, “What a wonderful wife you have.” I always answer, “I know, I’m blessed.”

I love the precious moments we spend together; when we giggle and share ice cream as we watch the blues, grays and scarlet’s in the canopy of sky overhead.

Finally, I appreciate your deep relationship with God. Everything in our lives is blessed because of Jesus, and your willingness to stay close to Him.

I will love you always.

Your hubby

I like the format of a love letter to demonstrate a husband's thankful memories of his wife; and nice job of tying "blue" in throughout.

How I miss these kind, loving and tender words!

I've neglected telling my husband I love him in such kind, loving and tender words (sigh). I have no excuse (grin). Your article encouraged me.

Very well-written, sweet and ministering.

Thanks.
