I loved that this turned into a devotional at the end, after an engaging story.

Until the last paragraph, it seemed a bit of a stretch to be on topic, as the dog could really have been named anything without affecting the story.

I could just picture Red's antics, and I smiled all the way through.

I like the analogy part at the end. Having dealt with a golden retriever that likes to dig holes to China next to my house and garage, I can relate to wanting to find a new home for her. Perhaps a gardner's family could use her. And as for our over-sized cat, I can't say I enjoy the young birds and bunny rabbits she deposits on the mat outside our door.
Really loved this story and Red's ultimate redemption. The analogy was perfect.
