In the Nightlight Golden Time

Let me dream with you, little one,
and we shall sail on silvery seas of moonlight,
and roam among the stars,
you and I, little one.

Let me sing with you, little one,
and we shall charm the angels all to smile,
and hear God Almighty hum along,
you and I, little one.

Let me read with you, little one,
and we shall spin our memories to life,
and weave new worlds in silly words,
you and I, little one.

Let me dance with you, little one,
and we shall whirl and twirl like butterflies,
and spin like pinwheels in the wind,
you and I, little one.

Let me rock with you, little one,
and we shall go back and forth ten thousand times,
and get lost in peace, this time each night,
you and I, little one.

Let me pray with you, little one,
and we shall share the whispers of our souls,
and intertwine our hearts midst this nightlight gold,
you and I, little one,
just you and I.

I have done all these things with my grandsons, only not quite as poetically. I thoroughly enjoyed the poem.

Congratulations Jim! What a beautiful entry. Made me miss my babies (all grown now). Loved the last verse, my favorite, and I found myself singing along too....

Well done!

This one brought tears to my eyes....And I don't tear easily.
I love how you portray the intimacy of the relationship in that last verse.

Thanks for sharing it.

Dear Jim, Yes, a man wrote this! I think it makes it that much more powerful...Powerful yet so delicate...two souls bonding forever with these precious words. I pray one day I will be blessed with a grandchild to share this with. Thank you for this gift and Congratulations!

Outstanding...what a beautiful, lyrical, tender lullaby. What a wonderful word picture - I can picture a father in a rocking chair at the midnight hour in the golden light of a nightlight lulling his little one to sleep. A huge congratulations on your 1st place win and well deserved EC!
