God bless you, Little Baby Dear,
Here cradled in my arms.
You’ve captured Daddy’s heart and mine,
Enthralled us with your charms.
May God, our Father, keep you near
And cover you with grace,
And may your life reflect His peace
From His own blessed face.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalm 139:13)
The threads God used within my womb,
When He was knitting you,
Had many strands from family
Of past and present, too.
I pray you have your father’s strength,
Your mother’s tender heart,
And from the generations past,
The best from each a part.
“Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:16)
God knows what lies ahead for you,
Of happiness your share,
The troubles that may come your way,
And sorrows you will bear.
He’s written down each day you’ll live
Until your days are done.
He did this all before your birth,
Not leaving out a one.
“ ‘I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ ” (Jeremiah 29:11)
I’ve no idea what you’ll be,
What jobs you will secure,
But in this is my confidence:
God’s plans for you are sure.
He’ll prosper you and give you hope.
You need have no alarm.
As He’s prepared your future,
He has not included harm.
“…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
When Jesus came to earth to die
For your sins to forgive,
He promised He would be with you
As long as you would live.
And though you’re just a wee babe now,
With God to bless you, you’ll become
All He wants you to be.
