WINTER WISE

“ Mommy, sugar is falling from the sky, is it to bake a pie? ”

“ And me, Mom, what happened to the boundless bounces of bountiful heat? ”

“ No, no, me, Mother, what is it with the shedding of all that colorful bedding? ”

The three children gathered about their mother, pleading for answers. And every year it was the same yearnings, over the same questions.

Their mother smiled, with a wide captivating welcoming of her precious ones and their innocent requests.

“ Children, listen to me. That sugar is snow and it will bring a comforting hush to those trapped by their mindless rush. They will learn to play once again, with skatings and slidings, in downhill ridings. As for those waves of heat, well they need relief, in a giant span of cooled make belief. And although those colors were wonders, there is to be no grieving, with their leaving. For it’s a sign, that at this time, each of you must find rest, in the meanings of being blessed, by renewal of God’s intended best. ”

Her three children, Spring, Summer, and Autumn, yielding themselves to the hibernating spell of deepest dreams, sleepily heard their Mother Winter whisper lastly to them:

Hush sweet children, it’s time to sleep;
The sorrows of life are mine to keep.
Come to me, I’ll cover with warmth,
All special needs that you bring forth.

Nature’s curious are fully aware,
Currents of change are blurring the air.
Whirls of water are starting to slow;
Stretches of night are lengthening their glow.

In the cleansing of wind’s will to explore,
Its chilling paths, comes want to restore,
An essential reminder of a principal prayer,
Only in God is there release from despair.

Hush sweet children, it’s time to sleep;
The sorrows of life are mine to keep.
Come to me, I’ll cover with warmth,
All special needs that you bring forth.

END.

Interesting! I like the way you gave personalities to the different seasons, and yet held off their identity for a bit.

"the sorrows of life are minr to keep". Just wonderful. This is very good, on subject and very creative with a sweet message.
