LATER...

Good morning, Lord!
I wish I had more time to talk with You.
But I must cram for my exam, plus book reports are due.
Now just You wait, You’ll be impressed,
When I get my degree.
So check back Lord and when I’m done,
I’ll serve You faithfully.

Well hello, Lord!
It seems like years since I last spoke with You.
My business plans are going well, and my investments, too.
Now just You wait, when I’m secure,
I’ll serve You Lord with much.
Let’s talk again when things slow down,
Perhaps sometime for lunch?

Excuse me, Lord.
I know You’d like to spend some time with me,
But don’t You know, it’s family night; we plan to watch TV.
It’s gotten hard to go to church.
The kids have lots to do.
But once they’re grown and on their own,
I’ll find the time for You.

Is that You, Lord?
I must admit my hearing’s not too good.
If I were young the things I’d do to serve You, if I could.
But I’m too old, You must agree,
My usefulness has ceased.
Now I must go and get on board
The seniors’ cruise to Greece.

Oh, my goodness...how the Lord must tire from hearing these words over and over again...from so many of his children. You hit this particular "adulthood" nail right on the head.

Woops! This person almost missed Adulthood, sliding quickly into Seniorhood, missing out on the blessings of being an adult, chosing rather to put it off until LATER...Well done. I loved the poetry...Helen
