He watched carefully as stains and scars interweaved with exquisite details to form a unique pattern. What seemed to be good and bad combined to create an amazing work in the skilled hands of the potter. Occasionally, an ugly lump would arise, bulging from the perfect smoothness of the nearly finished surface. Without hesitation or frustration, the potter gently began the process of removing the unsightly blemish, until once again, the work of art became complete; an uneven blend of good and bad.
The young man must have wondered why the potter would choose to leave so many rough patches and blend, rather than discard, those seemingly unnecessary ingredients into what could be his greatest masterpiece yet. But as he continued observing the transformation, he began to understand that it was all part of the plan. Every element had a purpose in the hands of the Master potter.
Still admiring the glory of the finished product in silence, Jeremiah looked up as the potter’s eyes met his own. Before any words were uttered aloud, the piercing, yet loving, eyes gazed at him as if to say “who will be next?”
