Topic: Good and Bad (05/07/09)
Welcome to the Let’s Make a Choice! It’s the show where people get to make choices that may or may not lead to a victorious life of faith in God. I’m your host, Manny Street. Let’s meet our first contestants. Hey, I see you two ladies are dressed as nuns. Are you sending our audience a message with these outfits?

Well, of course Manny. If people want to live victoriously, they can always find the right answers through the church.

Good decision, ladies. Here we go. For our first choice, we have these two boxes. Will you choose the box that says “Church Rules” or the box that says “Grace”?

Well, that’s easy. We know the church rules are always right. We choose that box.

Awww… sorry… that one won’t lead to a life of victory. Going to church is wonderful, but if you only follow the rules, you’ll always fail - because all humans are sinners. We’re saved only by the Grace of Jesus Christ our Lord. Sorry, ladies… better luck next time.

Let’s see who else we have in our audience. Hey, it’s former presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. Those are great costumes, guys.

Thanks, Manny. We admire the people who lead our government and wanted to represent them. These were the only president costumes we could find.

Well, be that as it may. Our next choice today features three doors. Will you open Door #1, which says “Law”, Door #2 which says “Mercy” or Door #3 which says “Good Works”?

Well… last time the ladies picked wrong and we learned our lesson from that. We’d normally choose the Law, because that’s what we believe in – but it couldn’t be that. “Mercy” is for bad people - and we aren’t bad – even though we wear these president masks. So… it must be Good Works.

Oh, sorry guys! You’re right: the Law can’t anyone lead to a life of victory, but neither can good works. Good works are wonderful when they’re motivated by a desire to please God, but works alone can’t lead to a victorious life.

Well, folks, it looks like it’s time for the Big Choice of the Day. We’ve got four curtains here and I want to pick a really special family to play for the big prize. We’ve got a curtain labeled Self Help; one labeled Luck; a third one labeled Sanctification, and the fourth is labeled Karma. Who should we choose? Yes, I see all those hands… and this family looks really perfect. But…wait! What was that?

Ladies and gentlemen, there seems to be something happening in the back of the room. Let’s see what’s going on. You, there; what do you think you are doing? You can’t come in here looking like that! My gracious, you folks look like a family of homeless people. Are those your costumes? And, if not, what were you thinking?

Well, Manny, we are homeless, but we were thinking God sees everyone with the same eyes - and that we are joint heirs of His riches in Jesus.

I think I read that somewhere, but…

We figured we’re just as worthy as anyone else to have a victorious life with Jesus.
We just want a chance.

But you folks need so much. Even if you win today, it probably can’t make you rich or get you a place to live.

We’re just here to get closer to Jesus; whatever He provides will be all that we need.

Well, good luck with that – right audience? Go ahead – pick your curtain.

We pick sanctification. It’s the only way to let God work inside our hearts, through the Holy Spirit, to change us into the people He wants us to be.

Well, I can’t believe it … that’s right! You’re our winners today and you are now eligible to live a more victorious life. What do you have to say?

We just want to say, “to God be the glory; great things He has done.”

Yes, I guess we can all say “amen” to that. And, for now, goodbye for today from Let’s Make a Choice!

:) Great job on this one. I could hear and picture everything happening. I could even hear the "Game Show Host" voice. You captured it perfectly.

Cute and clever. Love the three "types" of people and the conclusion, of course!

Some of the dialogue felt a bit stilted, but perhaps that was part of the "game show thing" - not sure those conversations ever DO sound natural.
