By His Word all things came to be—
All its functions so interdependent,
In organised complexity.
To mankind whom He made in His likeness
Were given dominion to reign—
As purveyors of God’s loving-kindness,
As lords over Eden’s domain.
They were given one simple instruction—
There was fruit they must not consume—
Its transgression meant death and destruction,
Leading all creation to ruin.
But they heeded the serpent’s tuition,
Eat of the prohibited tree;
Thereby bringing death’s curse to fruition—
An evidence we clearly see.
Genesis is by many discounted
As trite mythological brew,
But beginnings in God’s Word recounted
Christ quotes as factually true.
This foundation must not be supplanted—
God’s Genesis record must stand—
Its account must be never recanted--
It's definitive truth for man.
The prophetic is no less important
For keeping God’s people pre-warned
Which despite many voices discordant
Is God’s way to keep us informed.
I would urge you to read Revelation—
Avail of the blessing therein—
May Christ Jesus, the Lord of Creation
Give you eyes to see what’s within.
Genesis is the vital foundation
On which all our great doctrines stand,
Culminating in Revelation—
God’s perfect, everlasting plan.
Soon The Lord brings all things to conclusion—
Trust His Word from beginning to end—
Neither book is designed for exclusion;
They are both Holy Spirit penned.
