TITLE: My Creator Made Me So

Some say I live my life in extremes,
I descend to the depths, and yet it seems
I always return from down below...
Because my Creator made me so.

Now, I haven't always felt this free.
I admit, it used to bother me
That others seemed to have much less strife,
Less ups and downs—an easier life.

While I'd plunge so low then soar so high
Which always left me wondering why
I was so different—so strange.
I grew discontent; I tried to change.

But it didn't work...I had no success.
In fact, it seemed, I made a huge mess
of it all as I fought hard and long
Against God's design; my plan went wrong.

The people around me grew quite sad
When I sought change; some even got mad
At the difference I tried to make.
Soon it was clear I'd made a mistake.

I ended in tangles; tied in knots,
Forgetting my Creator allots
to me just what He wants me to be.
I'm made by Him—it's not about me.

So I gave up, decided to choose
His plan for me; I'd nothing to lose.
And so He worked to loosen the ties,
To undo the knots—squelch Satan's lies.

My friends rejoiced! They shouted with glee
That they, once again, could play with me.
Up and down...walk the dog...round the world!
Then tucked away, my string tightly curled.

I've learned my lesson—now I'm content
Just as He made me. I'll not lament.
Happy to soar, or drop down so low...
Because my Creator made me so.

I enjoyed how you wrote this. I liked the yo-yo allusion, "walk the dog", "'round the world", and "my string tightly curled" (sometimes I feel like that too :) ) I like the possessive "My" in your title. So clever.

I like the way you compared life to a yo-yo. Clever and creative. I've been there a few times myself!

Our lives are not content until we learn the lesson so aptly shown in your poem--just as the Creator made me. Well done.

I love this message, probably because my Creator made me so as well... :D

Very well-written. Great job!

Great twist at the end--I never saw where this was going! Very nice!

Awesome example of personification, and with a lovely message.

I enjoyed this poem. The yo-yo effect takes its toll until we can settle into contentment with the way our Creator made us.

I thought you were talking about a person until the end, and then...well, this was nicely done!

Excellent message, and written in a creative format. Very good writing.

How many times I've ended in tangles, tied in knots by going against my Creator.
Loved it!
