When burdens on my shoulders sit
And troubles make me weary,
Recollections rise from memory banks-
"Look up," a pastor’s theory.
Sometimes my first reaction
Is to think of poor, poor me,
The more I stew in pity,
The less I call on Thee.
Forgive me when I shut the door
Forgetting You are there,
If only I’d look up to You
And talk with You in prayer.
You may not give the answer
To my pleadings right at first,
But when I keep my faith in You
Loads get lighter--never worse.
Please help me Lord, today I’m down,
There’s needs I cannot meet,
I’ve disappointed yet again,
This world knows my defeat.
“Look up,” keeps ringing in my ears,
Is that You calling me?
I cast my eyes heavenward,
“Yes,” a voice said tenderly.
He knew the needs I spoke of--
I’m one within His flock.
He gave me strength sustaining,
This God, He is my Rock.
