It’s summer now down under
And once again you’re in the 80s;
You chase your kids in shorts and t-shirt
While we are wrapped like Eskimos.
It’s minus ten up here right now,
A hundred degrees apart…
You live a life that’s “upside down”
A world away from where we met;
We once enjoyed a friendship here,
But now an ocean lies between…
When it is day, it’s nighttime there,
Nine thousand miles apart…
Your dreams have brought you to this land,
Your “paradise” since you’ve been young;
My dreams have made me happy here
As God has brought the girl I love…
We each have life where God has brought us,
So many dreams apart…
But there’s a bridge that spans the gap,
To cross the breach between us;
Our friendship will not fade away,
Because its base is found in Christ…
Our hearts still reach across the gap—
In Christ we’re not apart…
