Since Junior wasn’t making noise,
I thought I’d better check,
And found my toddler in the den
With garlands ’round his neck.
He stood beside the little scene
Of Christ’s nativity
With big tears rolling down his cheeks,
As sad as he could be.
He’d tried to stuff some toys inside
The manger in the stable
And cried to see them all fall out
And crash upon the table.
I said, “Come sit on Mommy’s lap,
And I will tell you why
Your toys won’t fit the manger here,
And then you must not cry.
It was a long, long time ago;
God sent His only Son
To be born to a family.
He was the Promised One.
His parents traveled far away
And found no place to stay.
They slept inside a stable filled
With animals and hay.
And Baby Jesus Boy was born
With no crib for a bed.
They laid him in the manger there
To rest His little head.
The angels and the shepherds came
In darkness of the night.
Their hearts were full of happiness
To see this holy sight.
See, here’s our Baby Jesus Doll.
He has the sweetest face.
Put Him inside the manger now.
He’ll fit within that space.
And since that very special day
This baby boy was born,
It’s His birthday we celebrate
On every Christmas morn.”
