It is Christmas month. The bells of our hearts are ringing with joy and cheer. For the yearly Advent of Christmas comes once more to our hearts in anticipation! It embraces an old and true message of the joy of the Savior on His mission of the Cross: “I shall not leave you orphans…I shall come to you.” And this He does every day through His Holy Spirit all the year round---even as we count the days down to the vigil of the Nativity Celebration.
We are infinitely blessed that we are able to freely practice our faith openly, fully feasting, our renewed hearts on the Spirit of our father and His delight .Through the ages, we are guided still to keep the Birth of Jesus in reverence and goodwill. For Christmas inspiration keeps coming to our hearts even every day. And joy, true joy will help us impatiently keep counting down the days to Noel…
During the Advent Season, what comes to the mind at this time for some of us could be the well known song called “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”
That strangely-worded song was meant to indicate more than a repetitious tune with appealing and rhyming phrases. It personified the likelihood of a joyful Noel expressed by Christians through gift-giving: Many listeners giving their opinion on this song said they were mostly attracted by the fifth verse which says,
“On the fifth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Five Golden Rings
Four Calling Birds
Three French Hens
Two Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
As for the long discerned and repeated twelve verses, sung with the melody from many, many years. I greatly feel people have wrongly attributed them to honor the Birth of the Divine Christ!
Not that we clearly KNOW the accuracy or the authentic facts behind the writing of this song. The world has numerous question marks, plus many un-answered queries: Is what is said about it…the whole truth? Was this song deliberately written –in the past--to embody symbols of Christian faith that were otherwise not allowed openly???
Only God knows the true facts---for there are numerous denials and negations of the true facts
Therefore, the most important fact during this unique season is the great preparation of our hearts as we get ready to commemorate the Nativity. We, who have inherited God’s kingdom through faith in His Son who gave His life as a Ransom for us--- need to be totally in touch with our Heavenly Father with mind and heart and spirit.
As the children of God “who are called by His Name” we know that it was at the very first Noel that God has fully blessed His world with "A joy that surpasses all understanding," and this JOY has come upon all the earth. It started first in your hearts as well as in mine forever---to remain till we all see Jesus face to face… AMEN
