Shepherds keeping watch at night
Gathered ‘round the fire’s light
Each week the same as before
Nothing new and not much more

Wise men follow brightness star
They traversed long from afar
Each week the same as before
Nothing new and not much more

Joseph taking wife with child
To a homeland through the wild
More hardship than as before
Expectancy knocking at their door

Innkeeper making room for all
Giving away his very last stall
But life was the same as before
Nothing new and not much more

Animals in their stillness lay
Sensing something as they may
Something different than before
About to happen and much more

A town asleep so as not to stir
Forgotten Promise became a blur
Each week the same as before
Nothing new and not much more

A babe was born no one knew
Except for shepherds very few
Life went on much as before
Some things different, not much more

Centuries pass; time travels on
Where has all of our hope gone?
Each week the same as before
Nothing new and not much more

Has our belief all been spent?
For the next coming; Christ’s advent
Each week the same as before
Nothing new and not much more

Just as in the time of Noah’s day
People at work, marry and play
Each week the same as before
Nothing different and not much more

[Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Rev 3:3]

Yes, things for a lot of people carry on just the same. Jesus is still locked out of many lives - even at his birthday's time. ENJOYED. Thanks!

This is so thought-provoking. Your repeated line is very effective.
