TITLE: Need A Hint?
By Ruth Neilson

Humans are funny. They live and they die. They laugh and then they cry. But in the end, they all are mine!

You see, no one has been able to solve the riddle that I placed before them back at creation. Adam and Eve both failed to solve the riddle. For that matter, so has everyone since then.

Oh, right...the riddle? You want to know what my riddle is.

Ha ha! Thatís funny! I cannot tell you the riddle! Oh, now you want to know why? Thatís easy! You, my little friend, were born with this riddle inside of your heart. Think about it. Think long and hard.

Do you have it yet?

No?! Really, you havenít. I guess that Iíll have to spell it out for you...stupid human. Itís so simple that I canít believe that you havenít figured it out.

Riddle me this: how can humanís approach You-Know-Who?

Go ahead; chew on that for a while. I have a few colorful half answers to dangle in front of people.

Hmmm...What plan did I stop?

Oh, yes, now I remember...a dash of denial of You-Know-Whoís son combined with guilt. Now weíre cooking! This rock will be crushed into fine dust. Heíll end up just like my latest guest. Oh, Iím sure youíll know him. Does the name Judas sound familiar to you?

Ha! I thought it would. Oh, hold that thought...and that face. I have a customer.

What? No! You werenít supposeó

We had a deal! The stupid humansí sinned and their souls were mine!

Fine print? What fine print?!

Fine...You can take Your precious saints, they werenít very fun anyways. They kept on belting out random songs that would give me migraines for days on end. But the rest are still mine.

So, where were we? Oh, thatís right! Your answer to the riddle. Oh, you want to know about that guy?

Oh, he was nothing.

Wait, what do you mean?

He is your answer to the riddle. I canít believe Iím saying this. Congratulations, you answered the riddle correctly.

But, be looking over your shoulder because Iíll always be there. Youíve marked yourself as a follower of You-Know-Who, and now I want you for my personal collection!

This is very different. My big plan is to stay away from the devil's personal collection and keep on saying the name that makes the sucker stutter and shudder -- "JESUS!"

A very creative take on the topic. With a little modification I could see this performed as a monologue.

Oooooh, very eerie!

You have "humans" as a plural as "human's" in one place and "humans'" in another. Neither apostrophe is needed for a simple plural noun.

I'm not sure I'd be comfortable trying to write in Satan's voice, but you've done a good job here.

Fine print? What fine print? LOL I like the voice in this piece. Game over, Satan.

You expressed the evil one very well. I'm so thankful that God is more powerful than he.

Kind of a 'screwtape' type of take on the topic. I did have a little trouble following along at times, but that very well could have just been me. Thanks for sharing.

Creative and unusual! Nice job on this monologue.

Creative and creepy! Great combination! Well done.

One thing I've never figured out about this guy: why does he STILL think he's going to "win"?! Guess he doesn't want to read the end of the book. You captured the voice and the intentions of this nasty, and ultimately losing, predator.
