“We All Could Use A Bath”
The world is a constant drip of water on the forehead of the saints. Each time it falls it will wear us down one eroding drop at a time. It never stops. It has a job to do, and it does it quite well.
We often do not even know that it is happening to us, as we get so used to the moisture. It would seem almost foreign to think otherwise. Drip, drip, drip, one penetrating drop at a time, until it works its way through this tough exterior we call flesh, and drives right through blood and bone, and finitely, lodges in our gray matter.
Yes, and now it comes to rest within our mind to temp us in every possible way, and dares us to come against God Himself.
How, you might say? God is in us, and is renewing our mind. God is truth, but the world is never satisfied. It is in a state of unrest. Water always seeks its own level, and its own level is an enemy of the very thoughts of God.
It may sound good to our ears. (They love to be tickled, don’t they?) It may look good to our eyes, but we are told not to go be sight in the Bible. It may, at times, even seem refreshing! That, my friends, is where the hook is hidden within the worm to an unwary fish.
Don’t think that we cannot be caught. We all can. The world is a web of deceit, and we, are but a fly to this worldly spider.
It reminds me of an old children’s song…
The itsy bitsy spider
Crawled up the water spout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider
Crawled up the spout again.
Guard yourself. The truth is that the Son shines in our heart, and we are made anew, but the dare is to trust in oneself.
The only true water is that of the Word of God, and by its washing it will renew our mind.
I challenge you, no; I DARE you to take a bath in this living water daily.
We all could use a good bath now, can’t we?
