How Dare They?

Standing atop Red Mountain overlooking the city of Birmimgham, Alabama, is a giant statue of Vulcan, the roman god of fire and metalworking. This massive statue was erected back in the era when Birmingham was known as "Steel City" and thousands of metalworkers called this city their home...before their jobs were shipped overseas or elsewhere.

Vulcan is rather scantily clad, (in nothing but a loin cloth no less - in order to show his muscular physique, I assume), and can be seen for miles in any direction atop his mountain and is the city's number one tourist attraction. Every "Post Card" sent from Birmingham has a picture of this scenic Roman god emblazened in technicolor.

But what is most shocking... is that Birmingham is located in the very heart of what is called "The Bible Belt" in the USA - but not one person has ever protested this statuesque semi-nude Roman god standing above our city in all his majestic array of ancient attire. But a court Judge, who had a handcarved plaque of the Ten Commandments hanging on the wall in his Court Room, was ordered to take the plaque down as being politically incorrect - and when he did not do so, the officials, themselves, came and took it down and the God-fearing Judge had to face disciplinary action and a fine.

How dare they!

On 9/11, when the USA was invaded by terrorists and thousands of people were killed by suicide planes, the United States Congress stood on the steps of the Capital Building and sang God Bless America - and had the audacity to ask God in song to "stand beside her and guide her through the night with the light from above" - and yet these same people have made laws that take prayer out of schools, take Bibles out of hotels, keep nativity scenes out of public places during Christmas, and allow same-gender marriages in some of our States, and continue to try their best to take God out of our homes, our lives and our Nation.

How dare anybody have the guts to ask God to Bless our country now? Even "We The People" haven't dared to stand up for our one and only Living God.

All of this reminds me of David, the young shepherd boy who dared to go up against Goliath the giant after hearing him mock God's army. David heard his mocking words and said: "How dare this uncircumsized philistine defy the armies of the Living God?" ...and we know the rest of the story.

Out of the mouths of babes come wisdom, and now I understand why God called David the "Apple of His eye." He dared to take a stand...

"Atta boy, David!"

100% agreement! Christians, use your voices in whatever form you can. Let's get the Gospel back into the schools, the halls of justice and everywhere else it should define. I'm an Aussie and we need the very same action here too. If the other lobby groups can get their voices heard, so can we, for Jesus.

Amen! We have allow a few voices to speak for all of us far to long. Great job with the topic!

Very well said.
