She couldnít wait to go home. Home, a place she had moved away from, but she still considered it home and always would. She had her new home now; a place she had learned to adjust to, but back where she grew up she felt comforted by familiarity. She missed family the most, but when she was back home, there were things that brought peace to her mind like no other place in the world.

To clear her mind, she always loved taking a drive to the beach. The ocean waves crashing against the sandy beach, the sound of seagulls, and the early morning sunrise, all were things that eased her mind. When she was younger, life would hit the normal twists and turns, and when it hit hard, she hit the beach. She would walk along the edge of the water, no shoes, with sand caressing her toes and salty water spraying her ankles. She would let her mind wander wherever it chose to take her, lost in her own world. Her cares would drift away across the endless sea into the horizon.

But now, nine hundred miles away from any ocean, she scarcely had a chance to feel that feeling. Even when she would get the chance to make it home, she was so busy with family and friends that she didnít have time to take the trip to the beach alone. This year was different. Life had thrown her a few curve balls, and she intended to find some peace of mind at her old faithful place, the ocean.

The trip home was filled with anticipation. She needed this break from her current reality. Her soul needed nourishment, her mind needed freedom, and her body needed refreshment. She waited for the perfect day so she could sneak away by herself. That day came and she headed for the ocean shores. As her hair whipped in the wind, the suns piercing rays warmed her skin as she drove. It was early evening when she arrived, her favorite time to walk along the beachfront. Most people headed up to the boardwalk or back to their place after the suns rays died down, leaving the beachfront more serene and peaceful.

Walking for a long time, she lost herself inside her thoughts. She stopped to rest along some rocks and found a perfect spot to sit. She praised God for all that He had given her. During the tough times, she could see Him pulling her through. As she prayed, she felt a strong sense and connection with her Almighty Creator. She felt relieved and rejuvenated. He spoke straight to her in her prayers, reassuring her that she didnít have to be at that peaceful place to find peace of mind. But anywhere, if she turned to Him, He would bring her that comfort she knew.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she realized that He was right. She knew with conviction that she could turn to Him for that peaceful comfort she was feeling at that very moment. She knew He would be there for her no matter where she was. She knew that next time, she wouldnít wait so long to make that connection with Him, but instead, she would reach out to Him in prayer right away no matter where she was.

She left the ocean that night with a sense of awe. She had waited so long to find the peace of mind she needed from the faithful place along the beach, but all along, a more faithful place of peace was awaiting her. God knew she needed him. She was thankful for the moment with Him and would never forget the message she heard from Him that day.

A beautiful article, reminding us of God's faithfulness. You made a connection with each of us - we've all been at a place of feeling seperated from what is important and thinking a place or a person could fulfill what only God can. Nicely done.

Nice piece, watch the compounding redundancies in the first paragraph, otherwise a well writter article.

It's always nice to be able to go home. Very nice.

This was a piece I could identify with ... except that I go to the lake. Thanks for reminding me of some 'home truths'!

It's good to have our own special place where we talk to God and good to be reminded that when we can't get there He is wherever we are. Thanks for posting.

Nice article, heart felt and descriptive. I sensed the feeling of the desire to go home--but where is home--can we find it here? God bless ya, littlelight

I know this feeling well - the sense of returning to that place of belonging. I could walk with you and feel the release.

I certainly recognize the calling from the beach .. .a place of refuge and security.

The ocean brings me that same peace and tranquility. It's hard to understand how something so massive and powerful and bring peace to our souls.
