We all may have heard of the great gulf that divides us from God.
No matter what we do it can never come close to being enough to lessen the gap. No amount of money will pay for our demise. We are hopelessly separated from Godís love, and only His grace will provide the means for the construction materials that connects our eternal fate. We will live forever on one side or the other. We want to somehow do something that pleases God Almighty, but the Bible speaks of only one possibility. It is called faith.
You canít hire a crew to establish the work, because the factory that produces the substance cannot be seen. Yet, it is real. It is a tangible substance that is likened to the wind. We are able to see the effects of the wind, but the wind itself is invisible. All great men of faith, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament have found favor with the God of all creation by it. It is the mortar, it is the glue, and it is the truth of Godís Word, Jesus Christ that makes it impossible to please Him without it.
The work is complete, and the toll is paid, there is no other way.
We look upon its work, and often try to go around it, but the vastness of an alternate route is futile. Many do not use this bridge that can connect us to Christ. Religion seems to be a well-traveled road, but it only leads to destruction. Earthly rewards come in the form of humanitarian efforts, but it is not an acceptable currency in heaven. Yet, the poor have found the way, the humble have stumbled down the road to heavens gate. The meek treasured the value of the widowís mite, but not many rich can afford the price, because of pride.
AmazingÖ that it is not a secret to be uncovered, or hidden from our sight. When we read it in print we are left with a choice, and that is where we come to either a roadblock, or safe passage home.
Faith is not to believe what is not there, it is seeing, for the first time, what has always been there. You must see it with spiritual eyes that only the eyes of a martyr can behold. It comes to those who are willing to be a living sacrifice. To be dead to self, alive to Christ, and this happens only when we are born from above.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:1-3 NKJV
