I’ve focused on the distant marks:
The dreams I’ll chase, the race I’ll run,
I look so far, today is blurred,
I miss the place where I’m at now…

My dreams are lofty, like the clouds,
Unreached, they soar above my heart—
But as I focus on their merits
I miss exploring treasures near…

If I can focus on the present
And live my dreams right here, today,
I’ll find a smile beneath each pebble,
And ford each stream with leaps of joy…

I’ll dance among the butterflies,
And run with freedom in the rain,
If I can let go of the future
And live in glee with Christ today…

When I let go of all my dreams
And let my plans fly with the wind,
The wind will blow them in God’s hands
To build a mansion in His time;

But God has given me each breath
To dance and sing through every step;
I’ll find God’s grace in every moment
And know He’ll bring me what is best…

Your thoughts in the poem are rich--a promise and a prayer. The last two lines are my favorites in your poem.
