RING!

I heard it from the butcher who knows how the story goes
He saw it with his own eyes, wearing glasses I suppose
Rita and her husband Fred, when on a trip you see,
Gained ten pounds on a cruise; you know how that can be

RING!

Sally said the Butcher told her something that’s quite true
Rita’s husband is now dead, tripped in the ocean blue
Poor man did not have glasses on to see where he was going
Alas he’s gone without a trace of anything left showing

RING!

Karen said that Sally’s friend died eating Pita bread
The butcher’s wife baked it, or at least that’s what she said
Some glass got in the bread somehow, is how the story goes
So she fled to sea, an ocean cruise; but she took no clothes

RING!

Jody told me something Karen told her that seemed odd
The butcher’s wife is missing; she was last seen eating cod
They think she’s in the ocean; oh how awful it must be
The butcher left on a cruise, suspicious don’t you see?

RING!

Rita, I’m so glad you’re home, was your trip much fun?
I know how it is gaining weight by the time your trip is done
But you will never guess all that happened since your cruise
The butcher’s dead, his wife is gone and here is all the news:

[Those who guard their mouths and tongues keep themselves from calamity
Proverbs 21:23]

Good use of rhyme, rhythm & humour to remind us all of the perils of gossip. Well done!

Delightful poem to show how gossip changes as it moves from person to person.

This one made me smile... Great use of rhyme to add humor to your poem!
