I asked you for the greatest treasure
That ever graced your home with joy;
With sparks of love I galloped in,
And turned her face to newer lands…

And yet you freed her to this life,
Accepting me with open arms…

We’ve climbed to realms a long ways off,
And left the land she’d known behind;
Not long ago, she held your hand,
But now her hand is held in mine…

And yet you freed her to this life,
Accepting me with open arms…

We live in bliss that God’s designed,
With joy beyond all we have known;
You miss your girl, but let her fly,
Allowing the bond of love to form…

You choose to free her to this life,
Accepting me with open arms…

You’re now my parents, through this bond,
And I'm a part of the family;
I’ve grown to love you as my own:
You lost her heart, but gained mine, too!

Thank you for freeing her to love,
And loving me with open arms…

Simply wonderful! I loved the repeating lines with open arms. That say so much in that short image. Great job. ^_^

Ben, how beautiful! I hope you share this with your in-laws (I seem to recall that you're either engaged or very newly married). It's priceless.

I don't use the word "precious" very often, but this is a precious poem.
I wish you could have someone hand-print it, then mat and frame it for your inlaws. As a mother-in-law, I can tell you this would be priceless and would be a treasured possession of your in-laws, KUDOS!

God has blessed you with a gift. This surely will bless "her" and "them."

You are a great poet, Ben. I always enjoy your poetry, and this one makes a great gift to give to your in-laws.

I appreciate you sharing this.
