The spiders were hughe. Their eyes were larger than those of a human. As they approached they made sure you noticed the smile upon their faces. Was it a smile which meant that their voracious appetites would soon be quenched?
Their hairy legs were menacingly long. It was frightening to see the speed at which they propelled themselves forward.
One stopped and commenced preening a bothersome hair on a front leg. Even during the busyness of licking a hair, it's eyes never lost focus on me. I moved, or rather, I tried to move. There was no momentum. Inwardly I was moving. Physically I was glued to the ground. Such immobility on my part seemed to widen the spider's smile. This was so real,- I would not have believed the actions of any do-gooder who tried to awaken me.
The only relief from the terror came from the fact that the spider's ablutions were taking long than anticipated. This was only a momentary relief however because almost immediately upon experiencing a minimal of pleasure, the spider commenced to increase in size. To make the situation more desperate I was shrinking. This caused extra pleasure for the spider - the smile grew bigger as the body grew bigger.
This process lasted what seemed to be more than an eternity. I was so distraught, I hadn't thought about praying, except for the typical outburst, "God Help Me!"
Alas, that brought little relief, and the despair became more exaggerated and excruciating. This emotion was heightened as the spider shakes the newly preened leg and strides closer to me.
There was a blood-curdling scream from the spider. At that precise moment a bright flash of lightening illuminated the whole area. Miraculously, the spider stopped. On the second flash, all the spiders, now back to their normal size, fled for safety.
Where the spiders had been was a gleaming silver-streaked carpet. It seemed apparent to me that there was an open invitation to receive protective benefits by personally rolling on the carpet. Here was beauty. Here was security.

Pinching oneself doesn't always result in waking up from a weird and ghastly nightmare. Ot it could have been a mere fantasy upon some dreaded reality. But one thing is certain, through the formidable and terrifying darkness comes the revealing light to dispense all the fears, in its place is established peace and tranquility.
