The room was filled with a hush
And I could feel my cheeks starting to blush
Anticipation was pregnant before I was scheduled to speak
My knees, oh, my poor knees were very weak
I looked over the crowd and it was quite a view
So many people lined up in each pew
There was George, Sherry, Sue and Brice
They were all attentive and looked so nice
I began to pray for wisdom and revelation
When I wanted so much just to get up and run
But, God had a job for me to do
He wanted me to share His point of view
It all looked easy when others were behind the pulpit
But, now that it was my turn I was about to have a fit
Too late now to quit and back out
I really just wanted to get up and shout
"Jesus loves you, don't you know
His life he gave you, His love to show
So don't be stubborn and hold on to your will
Just reach out to Jesus, your life He will fill
The peace only He can give you will flood your heart
He says in His word you and He will never part."
Well, the deacon was getting up to give my introduction
I asked, "Lord, will you give me Your Holy last minute instruction?"
OK, I got up, took a deep breath, and put one foot in front of the other
It was time for me to minister God's word to my sister and brother
