Dear Madge,
Happy New Year to you! I am sorry it’s taken me so long to write, but the move took longer than I thought! Plus mail service from Mercury to Earth was interminably slow until a couple of months ago, but the RUSMPO (Royal United States of Mercury Post Office) bought some new space pods that has decreased the fly time to and from earth.
Today commemorates my first full year here, and I have to say, I am very impressed with the facilities, both on and off planet. John and I feel like pioneers, much like the settlers must have done on earth when they first discovered new lands. It has not always been easy – gaining our independence from earth was a nightmare! The World Order wanted to retain all rights to the minerals and precious metals of Mercury saying they needed to replenish earth’s dwindling stores. Worse than that, they wanted to incorporate all the same laws they have on earth, the main reason we left in the first place.
Mercury has indeed become our “Brave New World”. The laws on earth were way too restrictive – the day the global government shut down all restaurants and fast food places, citing that people were not capable of making wise choices and they had to do it for them, I knew we had to get out of there. The final nail on the coffin was when in a hostile takeover all church buildings were seized, and given over to ‘scientists’ for their evolution experiments. Do you remember seeing that on the news? I know it distressed you as much as it did me.
Madge, I know you have been thinking about a new beginning, a new start for yourself since Keith died, and I really think you should seriously consider Mercury – a place where you can still breathe fresh air (well – as fresh as the domes can make it!) Land is cheap too, and building a dome costs much less than a house on earth. Think about it Madge, you would be free to worship God here. We have created a new government, one that listens to the people. We based many of the tenets of governing on the Bible, and it is written in our statutes that at no time, ever, will religion be restricted – people will be free to worship God and talk about Him at any time. We even have Bibles here! Can you remember the last time you ever saw even a portion of a Bible? We thought they’d all been burnt back in 2050, but apparently the underground church in China had saved several of theirs, and many of the persecuted Indian pastors had memorized entire books of the Bible, and could write them down or dictate them to scholars – truly amazing. The first Bible went into print last year – what do you think of that?
This New Year promises to bring even more positive changes, the first church opened up six months ago, and we are sending our first missionaries back to earth – disguised as teachers, doctors and engineers. We know these are dangerous times to profess a relationship with Christ on earth, but there are whole generations growing up with no knowledge of God at all – and we have to change that. John is working with the pastors on new technology to microchip the Bible and place it in the hands of the missionaries – in that way they can access the Word at all times. Fortunately many of the top scientists have joined forces with us, and the prototype is almost complete.
Madge, we could sure use your help – your teaching skills are greatly needed here – please would consider making the move? It wouldn’t be easy, I won’t lie to you, but the freedom you’d find here, and the fulfillment in knowing that you are furthering the gospel makes up for any discomfort you might experience. Plus I, your twin sister would be here to smooth things over! Please pray about it, and E-phone me.
