Fellowship means many things
To different kinds of folks –
It may mean giving lots of hugs
And telling Christian jokes.
It often means we share a meal
When worship’s o’er and done;
It could mean sharing trials and tribs
And vict’ries that we’ve won.
It means when someone’s sick
And cannot do much for herself,
We watch her kids and clean her house
And fill the pantry shelf.
Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry,
Sometimes we hold a hand
And let somebody know they’re loved
When life’s on shifting sand.
We love a brother when he’s down,
And when he’s on the rise
He sees the look, “Well done, my friend!”
A-shinin’ from our eyes.
And people know where they can come
To find a listening ear –
A friend who knows, “Been down that road!”
Can wipe away the fear.
Fellowship means patience, grace,
And bearing with a brother.
Jesus said that we’d be known
For loving one another.
