What if I didn’t pick the right college?
What if I didn’t pick the right job?
What if I made too many mistakes?
What if I had ordered the fettuccini? Would she still have broken up with me?
What if I made a bad choice on every important decision I ever made? What if I even blew the smaller decisions? Would my life be so much better? Would everything be different? Would I be who I am? Would I have liked who I could have been?
There are so many questions. There are no real answers. I could spend a lifetime looking back at every decision, at every juncture in my life. I could make the worst choice of all by being fearful of what I missed and what could have been.
Sometimes I start on the rollercoaster of “what ifs” only to find that I’m climbing a steep slope that is approaching a sure fall.
God does not ask what if, but simply to follow. He will take me as I am, and lead me to where I should go. Even if I fall down, He will be there. There is no more “what if,’ only I will.
