MOM, I CAN’T MAKE IT WITHOUT YOU.
The night was very cold and the wind was whistling through the poorly closed apartment windows. The young mother to be was feeling cold and all alone. She was feeling very sorry for herself and had so many regrets, but was determined to have her baby even if it meant being alone.
She found it hard to get to sleep and started to cry, but in between her sobs she thought that she heard a voice, “Hey mom, don’t cry.” She continued to cry as she was all alone. Then she heard the voice again, “Why are you so sad mom?” The young mother to be looked around the apartment, straining her ears to hear the voice – she felt that it must be her imagination.
She stopped crying and waited to hear the voice again. Then she heard it, a tiny small voice saying, “Mom, I can’t make it without you.” It sounded as if the voice was coming from inside of her – but it couldn’t be, her unborn child couldn’t be talking to her!
Then she heard the voice again, “Mom you did so well to nurture me – everything here is great. I just can’t make it without you. I feel so warm and protected.” Then the young mother to be realized that she had those same thoughts before….. “Mom, I can’t make it without you!”
The young mother to be stopped crying, she felt at peace and had an assurance that everything was going to be alright. She got up from her bed and called her mother – she asked her to forgive her for running away from home. The mother sensed a change in her daughter and replied, “I will always love you. I will come and pick you up.” The young mother to be replied and uttered the thoughts that she had before, “Thanks mom, I can’t make it without you.”
