“Why, Daddy?”
“Because if you answer in such a way, you will often see that you truly are happy. A contented life is about good choices, Danny.”
“Danny, would you please help me put the groceries in the car?”
“Yes, Mrs. Wheatley, I'd be happy to.”
“What a nice boy you are, Danny. Here's a dollar.”
“This is not the best job Daniel. Its entry level, but it's a start. Do you think you can handle it?”
“Of course sir, I'd be happy to do this job. Thank you for the opportunity.”
“You will go far Daniel. I will be watching you move up the company ladder.”
“Will you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to honour and cherish, to have and to hold in sickness and in health all the days of your life?”
“I'd be happy to. Yes, I do.”
“Then as a minister of God, in front of these witnesses, I pronounce you husband and wife.”
“My darling husband. I know it is a little earlier than we had thought, but I guess God has other plans for us. How do you feel about being a father?”
“I'd be happy to be a father. This is wonderful news. Thank you Lord!”
“Mr. Tavish, This is Bell's Funeral Home. You will need to come and sign some papers. Everything has been pretty much looked after, but your father has left specific instructions regarding the funeral. He would like you to speak about his faith in Jesus and give an invitation at the end of the service. Said it was his last act of evangelism and he wanted his going to be a benefit to the Lord he has served all these years. Is this something you are willing to do?”
“I'd be happy to.”
“Daddy, I want to ride a bike. Not a tricycle Daddy, but a real bike. Will you help me?”
“Of course darling, I would be happy to.”
“Look Daddy. Look! I am doing it.”
“Oh honey, I am so proud of you.”
“Sir, I love your daughter and I want to honour God and you by asking for permission to marry her. Will you give us your blessing?”
“Jeremy, you have shown yourself to be a solid young man with a solid faith. I'd be happy to extend our blessings to you both.”
“Thank you sir. I promise to be a good husband and father. You have been an incredible example.”
“Poppa, why do you say 'I'd be happy to,' so much?”
“Thomas, when I was a little boy, my daddy taught me that serving others with a happy heart was a choice. Many times on the inside, I was tired and didn't feel like helping. Then I would hear my daddy's voice and I would silently ask God to give me a genuine smile and the heart to do the task. God always answered.”
“When I get to be a big man, Poppa, I am going to do that too.”
“God will give you the strength, Tommy. When you listen to Him, He will always lead you on the right path.”
“Mr. Tavish, I'm sorry sir, but your wife will probably not make it through the night. At her advanced age, she doesn't have the strength to fight this illness. Would you care to sit with her?”
“She has been with me through trials and tribulations. She has championed me, been my best friend, the mother of my children, and my helpmate. It's my honour to be with her. Yes, I would be happy to.”
“My love. What a privilege it is to sit with you. Even if it's our final time this side of Heaven, I am happy to do so.”
“My Son, you have been a faithful servant. Since you were young you have blessed Me and been a good testimony to all you met. Your time on earth is complete and you are welcome to enter Heaven because you have accepted My Son and have grown more like Him each year. There are many waiting to greet you because of the difference you have made in their lives. Would you like to say hello before seeing your new home?”
“I'd be happy to.”
