Sparrow, sparrow in the sky
Spread your pretty wings and fly
Higher, higher in the air
Soar above without a care.
Down you come, circling ‘round
Landing softly on the ground
Sing for me your little song
I could listen all day long.
Sparrow, sparrow do you know
That I’m here to say hello
Watching as you peck and hop?
Always busy, you don’t stop.
Brown and black and white and gray
Feathers help you fly by day
Warm you in your tiny nest
Stay there for a good night’s rest.
Jesus, Jesus, do you see
Children who are just like me
Like you see the sparrow small?
Can you see me when I fall?
When I’m hungry do you care?
Do you even hear my prayer?
You see birds and bugs and trees
And take care of things like these.
Jesus, Jesus, I need you
Hear me pray and watch me, too
Hug me, hold me, say You’re near
Wipe away my salty tear.
Even through the darkest night
Comfort me within Your light
Tell me that I am Your own
Never let me be alone.
Sparrow, sparrow, you and me
We’re a lot alike, you see
Tiny bodies, busy feet
Singing songs that are so sweet.
God looks down on both of us
All we have to do is trust
We don’t have to understand
Safe and sound within His hand.
Jesus, Jesus, we both know
Flying high or crawling low
You see exactly where we are
Whether we are near or far.
Thank you, God, for always caring
For the home you are preparing
Us in heaven up above
Where we'll live ever in Your love.
