Poor Me

It’s hard to write when not inspired,
when hungry, lonely, sad, or tired.
I’ll try to write some anyway,
‘cause that’s just where I am today.

Hunger always affects my mood,
but I’m too lazy to get some food.
And lonesome is a state of mind,
my dogs can fix that anytime.

Sad ‘cause I’m not inspired to write,
I stare at this blank sheet so white.
I’m tired because I slept too long,
I’ll probably whine the whole daylong.

I think I’m at a pity party,
I should eat breakfast good and hearty.
I should see if my neighbor’s home,
So I won’t sit here all alone.

If I go outside I’ll be quite glad,
Sunshine helps when I feel sad.
If I sleep again I’ll be more tired,
Maybe I’ll try out in the yard.

Don’t waste your time and pity me,
I’m having fun at my party.
I think I’ll take a nap or two,
and then I know what I will do.

I’ll write a poem so inspired,
you’ll think it is my best so far.
You’ll wonder how a pathetic fellow,
can write so beautiful and mellow.

I’ve had some time to sulk and moan,
but God would not leave me alone.
His glory all around me proves,
it’s always me not Him that moves.

I need to come to this party! I have plenty of pity to bring with me. Most of us will identify with this.

I think we all can relate. Good work.

A delightful poem that makes us smile at ourselves, our moods, our miseries, but also our Salvation! A keeper. :)
