When the world is too much for me
When my hands are hanging low
I run to meet my secret love
He’s the lover of my soul
At first I called Him my ‘Creator’
He made my by His hand
Then one day He revealed
So much more to His plan
He longed to give my life some shape
He promised He was able
Like a lump of yielded clay
He placed me on His table
He fashioned me into a lamb
As Shepherd He now led
I learned to trust His leading hand
And follow in His stead
But soon He changed into my Master
I gave up all my rights
He ruled in kindness and with mercy
I found His burden light
He didn’t see me just as 'servant'
His heart began to show
He revealed He was my Father
My love began to grow
My childlike wonder was encouraged
His love was fully mine
I reveled in this newfound freedom
I grew in grace divine
Then one day He called me ‘friend’
And shared with me His heart
I saw Him in a different light
I longed to do my part
More and more He became
My constant and my peace
More and more He revealed
His love would never cease
One day He wooed me as a Lover
I didn’t understand
Such intimacy was daunting
Was this part of His plan?
His heart was constant as the sunrise
His love was deeper than the sea
His wooing fervent as the springtime
His grace extended out to me
Who could refuse such a Lover?
Who could refrain from such a heart?
He captivated me completely
I freely gave Him every part
Now I found He’s more than Lover
He is King of everything
I, as heir and as His consort,
Some day will reign with Him
