Lack of Craft
I’ve searched my brain for an article of craft
I’ve even asked friends for their input
Ideas abound for so many other words
But craft I cannot locate
I’m not really a crafty person
Perhaps therein is the challenge
I’ve tried knitting, crocheting,
Rug latch making and decoupage
My flower arrangements lack design
And a canvas, well, let’s say “abstract art”
Woodcarvings are better in the fireplace
And jewelry-making ends up in the trash
I cannot draw a straight line with a ruler
And people are merely stick figures
Calligraphy looks more like scribblegraphy
Cardmarking? I’ll leave that to the experts
I have found a few crafts I can do
Like candlemaking and sewing
A photographer’s eye is something I have
Wire art is enjoyable and attractive
There are still many crafts I haven’t tried
Like basket weaving, glass making,
Metal welding, and ice sculpturing
Perhaps, though, it’s best to leave them alone
One thing I considered is pottery making
But in light of my lack of skill, I think
It’s best to leave that to the Master Craftsman
As I become His willing vessel
