Lack of Craft

Iíve searched my brain for an article of craft
Iíve even asked friends for their input
Ideas abound for so many other words
But craft I cannot locate

Iím not really a crafty person
Perhaps therein is the challenge
Iíve tried knitting, crocheting,
Rug latch making and decoupage

My flower arrangements lack design
And a canvas, well, letís say ďabstract artĒ
Woodcarvings are better in the fireplace
And jewelry-making ends up in the trash

I cannot draw a straight line with a ruler
And people are merely stick figures
Calligraphy looks more like scribblegraphy
Cardmarking? Iíll leave that to the experts

I have found a few crafts I can do
Like candlemaking and sewing
A photographerís eye is something I have
Wire art is enjoyable and attractive

There are still many crafts I havenít tried
Like basket weaving, glass making,
Metal welding, and ice sculpturing
Perhaps, though, itís best to leave them alone

One thing I considered is pottery making
But in light of my lack of skill, I think
Itís best to leave that to the Master Craftsman
As I become His willing vessel

This is only the second time in my life I've found unrhymed poetry excitingly AOK! I've never liked it before, but now...this entry has changed my outlook on it altogether. Very well done, and you've done a miraculous thing...made me see that rhymed poetry isn't the only kind in town. (smile) Thanks!

This was fun. It's like you read my diary--I will never be good at artistic crafts. Fun, great read.

This was very cute and fun to read. Not only was it strong on topic, but it also came to a great conclusion. I liked it a lot. Good job!
