I could not paint a mountain view,
Not even if I wanted to,
But I can have within my goals
To bring God’s peace to troubled souls.
I could not sculpt a bust of clay
If I took lessons every day,
But I can give a word of cheer
That someone badly needs to hear.
I could not sing an aria,
Nor could I lead an orchestra,
But I can help a fallen friend
To find his way back home again.
I could not dance in a ballet,
Nor kick my heels in any way.
I can perform a thoughtful deed
Or help someone who is in need.
I could not play a piano,
A tuba or a bass cello,
But I can always do my part
To show the world a caring heart.
Of all the arts there are to use,
The art of kindness will I choose.
I’ll show His love in concrete ways
And pray my life to bring Him praise.
