“Gee, Pop, you wouldn’t wanna write your own?” asked his son. “I mean you know how people like to make up stories about you and distort the facts.”
“Good point,” he answered, “but somehow I think it’ll have more punch if I get someone who’s not bias one way or the other. You know give them all the facts, let them draw their own conclusions.”
“Well, dad, that’s going to be a little impossible, don’tcha think. I mean everyone has an opinion about you and what you do. Who ya ever gonna find that’ll be completely unbiased and objective?”
“May I interject something, sir,” interrupted a friendly voice from across the table. “Why not commission lots of writers?”
“I’m listening,” dad nodded. “Explain.”
“Well, if you hire several different writers, with different backgrounds, experiences, education levels, etc. and give them the same set of facts,” he paused, “if they all independently drew the same conclusions…”
“Wow! That’s a great idea!” rallied the youth. “No one could dispute the truth then!”
“Let me think about it,” dad smiled.

“Whatcha reading dad?”
“Oh I was just skimming through these manuscripts.”
“Are those the biography submissions?”
“Yes,” dad sighed. “They’re all excellent. Every one is unique. Each has masterfully captured portions of my story…but something is still missing.”
“Did they forget the early days, dad, when you were just starting out?”
“No, they’ve adequately detailed the timelines.”
“I don’t know, somehow none of them seemed to have portrayed the essence of who I really am.”
“Well, dad isn’t that expecting a lot,” the son posed, “I mean they don’t know you like I do. I mean, who does?
“Excellent point, sir,” came a cheerful voice entering the room with a tray of tea and cakes. “Why not let the lad take a stab at it!”
“Would you be interested?” dad asked.
“Sure, why not! What have I got to lose? I bet I could write the prefect biography! I mean who knows you better than your own son?”
