or carries an elderly lady’s groceries
For the friend who regularly calls and instant messages
to make sure you’re okay
For the woman who senses your inner turmoil and says:
“Can I pray for you right now?”
For the mama who takes care of her disabled son
day after day, night after night without thanks
For the dad working three jobs
just to keep food on the table for his family
For the aunt who sends birthday cards
every year without fail
For the smiling clerk at the store
who always helps you find what you need
For the athlete that puts 110% into the team
and encourages other players to do the same
For the layperson who shares the church’s burden
and introduces people to Jesus
For the writer who tells stories that help us laugh
and know how much God loves us
For the grandparents with unending love
who shower their grandkids with babysitting, money and hugs
For the armed forces officers who are ready at a moment’s notice
to be shipped out across the globe for our freedom
For the cancer-ridden widow who is a prayer warrior
for hundreds of people she doesn’t even know
For the pastor and deacon and Sunday School teacher
who visit the sick and teach God’s Word
For the churches who run soup kitchens, food pantries and shelters
so that the homeless can survive another day
For the inventor who devises tools and gadgets
to make our lives easier
For the researcher who finds cures to diseases
that kill and debilitate our families
For the college student who goes on short term missions,
giving their time and energy to those who have little
For the neighbor who brings cookies when you are sick
and who feeds cats and brings in mail when you’re on vacation
For the child who instead of name-calling,
tells the nasty kid that God loves him
Thank God for you. No one else may ever notice that what you do is right and good and helpful and worthy of praise. But God does. And one day, if you know Him, you will receive your reward.
