The sight of a police car can affect a driver in the most amusing way. Police officers commonly set up speed traps along interstates to nab the impatient driver who can not seem to keep his or her speed under the required limit. Most drivers will immediately tap, or in some cases, slam on the brakes when they see a police car sitting in the median. At times, that is necessary because the driver is clearly breaking the law. In other cases, it is just a reflex reaction to the sight of a police car. Drivers respect the authority of the police because they understand and want to avoid the financial and legal consequences of breaking the law. They have a healthy fear of the police.
God constantly sets His own “speed traps.” He watches us to see whether we will slip up. He is also willing to mete out consequences if His children are not following His laws. Most of us do not even think about God watching us let alone slam on the brakes of our lives when we sin and are at fault. We show more respect to policemen and their speed traps then we do to the almighty God in heaven who wants us to do what it right. To regain the proper perspective of God and sin, mankind must first regain its fear of an awesome God.

Very good point! But hate to think of a loving God as One who keeps an eye on us just to "catch us" doing something wrong. However, something to think about.

A healthy fear of God would do us all a world of good! I enjoyed your concise devotional. Dividing it up into a couple of paragraphs with spaces between would make it more appealing to the eye.

I found this a little short, but your message is good. You should focus on spacing between some of the thoughts to make it more readable. I agree though... we may need to be more concious of God's laws at times in our lives.
