How often have we been moved by music? How many times has a song inspired a man to cross oceans to profess his love, or a ballad brought tears to the eyes of a lovelorn girl? When David was filled with praise to the Almighty Father, did he not dance to the melody within? When his heart was heavy-laden by the weight of his own sin, did he not compose psalms of sorrow? When the armies marched to battle for the God of Israel, did not the musicians lead? When Solomon found his love, his bride, did he not write the Song of Songs?
Is it any wonder that music should fill the universe? Creation itself is an ornate symphony! It is marvelous to see, to understand the way our God weaves the principals of The Trinity into all of nature. We see it with sky, earth and water. And water itself can be liquid, vapor and ice. It is in man himself, body, soul and spirit.
And it is without question perfectly displayed in music.
Picture if you will the dawn of what we call time…
The Master Composer takes a deep breath. He has purposed to create a masterpiece, a symphony of songs, all intertwined and joined together for the appointed epochs. He will create dramatic allegros and eloquent pianissimos. He is the Composer, He is the Father.
His mighty hand reaches out to begin writing the Words to His beloved piece. These must be words of love, words of laughter, of sorrow, and of life. The words must reach beyond eternity and speak of the Creator with every stroke of the pen. They must not simply describe, the words themselves must be alive! The Words are the Son, the Word is Jesus.
Ah, now the melody! It must course through each and every atom. It should flow in and around all matter. It would cause the mountains to sway in rhythm, the stars to dance brightly in the heavens, the heart of the child to know the Father. It will bring joy, it will bring tears, it will comfort, it will convict. It will hold the piece together, from beginning to end. Through the melody the message of the Composer will be instilled. The melody, the movement, is The Holy Spirit.
Father, create a new stanza within us. Write the words of our lives and arrange the music of our hearts to reflect You, the Chief Musician. And let the Melody move us as the Words guide us to the Lord of all, until this song is complete.
And the encore has begun…
