***********
Trekking,
spirit adoring
with
steps alight in drenching rain.
A heart is struck
by things to most men
common.
Adulation exploding to One amazing,
giving Him
significance outstanding,
sensitivity astonishing,
appealing,
engaging,
deep into
bowels of the ever-lasting.
A purpose good and pleasing,
intensely drawing one trekking-
now considering
what to most men seems
common.
Wooing one ordinary
by
One exuding.
Conceiving.
Pregnant with-
"Thou Art".
Memories of worship now flowing,
an unbreakable stream
through
a heart pondering, weighing
the unfathomable glories-
things to most men
uncommon.
Stirring perception and awe,
merging
into
mutual admiration
as
a miracle of intense
consumption
explodes
with
awesome wonder,
thunder resounding,
bellowing,
proclaiming
among stars now seeing-
things no longer
common
Revealing to one ordinary
by
One emanating.
Endowing.
Pregnant with-
"Thou Art".
The Infiltration
**************
Breath penetrating
with
sound releasing, ears perceiving,
as power displayed
satiates a heart listening
with universe expanding,
yet
capable of saturating,
infusing finite
with
infinite.
Pervading.
Liquid impartation
purchased
by redemptive blood,
producing
an ordinary man
transfused
into rapturous
delight
becoming
“uncommon”.
Imbuing
one ordinary
by
One pouring.
Infusing.
Pregnant with-
"Thou Art".
Deepest thoughts trekking
through
intense imaginings.
Reflections ruminating
with
soul igniting,
catapulting private rapture
into
exalted lyrics-
things not common to men.
Voicing melodious
verse,
capturing rhythmic sound
for generations forthcoming.
Embracing,
giving,
to Him now bearing
yokes encumbering
gladly.
Worship rising,
with prose
exalting.
Consuming
one ordinary
by
One exceptional.
Releasing.
Pregnant with-
"Thou Art".
The Absorption
**************
One now trekking
with
humble knowing,
unassuming,
marinated in mutual
esteem.
Connected by rebirth.
Soaked in liquid
life
of blood saturated origins.
No longer
yoke encumbered.
A vessel filled
with moisture drawn
to desirable bounds
of overindulgence
through
redemptive holes
of the
heart.
Consuming
one ordinary
by
One pouring.
Over-flowing.
Pregnant with-
"Thou Art".
Pregnancy relinquishing
through eternal mountains
and
rolling thunders pealing.
Melodies uncommon to man
now absorbed
by one trekking,
possessing a receptive
soul
given to
harmonious strains
of heaven singing
through
ordinary events.
Anointing released
to
one trekking
with
heart exceptional,
uncommon to most men
by
One reciprocating
to a responding
of
His own wooing.
The Delivery
************
Flowing
through one ordinary
from One
extraordinaire.
Empowered
by
communal congealment
among revelations
displayed.
Worlds
His hands have
made.
Delivering
from
one common
by
One uncommon
a
Testament of the Ages-
a gift
to the generations,
proclaiming glories
and
the coming
day,
transforming
the ordinary
into
something immense,
something grand,
something powerful,
something pleasing,
something remarkable,
something exceptional,
something significant-
Culmination of all
amalgamation
good and pleasing
births:
“How Great Thou Art”
(1) O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed:
CHORUS:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
(2) And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
(3) When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!
Carl Boberg, a young Swedish minister, wrote this hymn in poetic phrase while walking home from a church service in a thunder storm, over a hundred years ago. Imagine his surprise when his poem, published in 1886, was sung to an old Swedish tune. Some forty years later, a Russian pastor named Stuart Hine, caught in a similar thunder-storm, added to this magnificent hymn. Both men, lovers of God, opened their ordinary lives to leave a great heritage for the coming generations.
Once known as O Store Gud (O Great God) - How Great Thou Art is acclaimed by many, “an all-time favorite”, rose to prominence in 1957 at a Billy Graham Crusade in New York City. Many, including Elvis, have recorded this hymn. However, it became one of the signature pieces of George Beverly Shea, endearing many hearts to the Lord’s service. Having read the words above, I pray the majesty of this anointed song will fill your heart with faith and the understanding; God uses ordinary men to do great things.
