Who but Christ could have given the people an abundant feast from just five loves of bread and two fishes? No one could then and no one can do it today.
Mathew 14-15 through 21 And Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. And when it came evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said to them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. And they said unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. He said, bring them hither to me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
Think about this for a moment, five loaves of bread and two fishes. This meager amount of provisions was turned into enough to feed over five thousand. This should be enough proof for even the most hardened skeptic.
When we think of abundance we usually think in terms of large amounts of either food or other material things. On our own it is necessary to put up large amounts of provisions in order to have enough for what we need. The lesson is, that through Christ there is always enough to go around. Christ is always there with an abundance of love and anything else we may need. Through Christ all things are possible, and there is no need to worry about not being prepared for what comes our way. A strong belief in Jesus and God, along with prayer and doing the best we can to live a Christen life will surely bring an abundance of all we need in this life and the next.
In the times to come we will all be tried in many ways, but we must remain strong in our belief in God. There will be times of great peril and times when it will be a lot easer to go with the flow and deny God. We as Christians will be persecuted beyond anything we can imagine, but above all else we must remain strong in out belief in God. For as the Bible tells us we who hold fast to our faith will some day be able to enjoy the great abundance of God’s heavenly rewards. What more could we wish for?
