The solace of quiet water surrounded the small ball. Gently it rocked when there was any disturbance in the waters. An attached rope held it firmly to its secure source of food. Tumbling down the twisted rope was its red food source as it recycled back and forth to the ball from touching the source. The source had grown of late just as had the ball. Years of preparation had been done by the source. Planning and hoping and praying. This tiny ball was the generous gift through the ages to all of the progenitors of the ultimate source.
The ball began to differentiate slowly—ever so slowly. As predetermined by the ultimate one. From outside its sac in which it eloquently floated often came distant and muffled sounds. As the differentiation continued, sometimes the forming new one responded with a turning or a sudden small forced kick to the sac. Surely the one to whom the sac belonged could know that this one was ready soon.
More kicking, more activity announced that now it was time. Waiting and wanting would all be answered in this now vibrant new one. The ages bowed to the greatness of the ultimate source which had formed this grand and encompassing design.
All love comes once again as the resounding explosion finally announced the small ones coming within a setting of pain and blood and shock. With a scream of mixed terror and joy, the new life came from the sac.
And a baby’s first cry filled the birthing room. In tears of joy amid the pain of childbirth, the mother with the eyes of love given from God, whispered to this precious gift—“Ah, my new child—and your new name will be “Hope.”
And all children should have the second middle name of “Hope”—for they are.
